This painting took a very long time to finish. Not just because of the detail (which can be achingly slow to complete) but because I started with a flourish and then we seriously fell out with each other. It began full of hope, as relationships often do but then came a rough patch. I had way too much wallpaper to paint and it kept going wrong. So my
daughter becomes wise adviser and suggests leaving it alone for a while. Three months later the answer was obvious. I drew a door opening through to another room and eliminated half the wallpapered area. DIY is so much easier on canvas.
